Sunk by SUV sales
Like any other manufacturer to sell sport utility vehicles have these days, parents, Chrysler LLC, a major drop-off times with the Jeep Grand Cherokee sales at about a 48% decline for July 2008 compared to same period in 2007. This reduction is unique Chrysler will be affected, because the company has long been the subject of trucks and SUVs for the vast majority of sales.
Despite the bad news, has big plans for the Chrysler Grand Cherokee, when the 2011-model published in 2010. According to annual reports, Chrysler will invest 1.8 billion U.S. dollars upgrading their plant at Jefferson North (Detroit) to build next-generation Grand Cherokee, and several new models. While Chrysler does not share any news yet about the proposed Grand Cherokee, said the following:
- The Grand Cherokee is a car-based platform, rather than a truck platform, both in how they are built for today's vehicles from crossing.
- Materials lighter, a little less body means that the model will see significant improvements in their current number 15/19 mpg. A V6 engine will power the new Grand Cherokee.
- The Grand Cherokee 4x4 is still capable, but we hope that this will mean a light off-road at best.
